Wrong name?

Elin, Saeyoung! Yes! I'm present. Since I was five years old, in my kindergarten and the English classes, I was called as Elin. It is my precious English name that my parents gave. I am not sure why they gave that name because they never told me the reason, though, I liked my name at first sight. So I decided to use the name "Elin" whenever I needed an English name. I was just a 5-year-old girl, and the time when I got my new English name, I just got started to learn English. I just knew a few words and alphabets, and barely spoke in a sentence. I thought the spelling of the princess was 'plincess,' accordingly, I believed that my name is from 'plincess.' So whenever someone asked me if I have a nickname or an English name, I told them proudly, "My name is Elin." Everyone in my English class called me Elin, and they said they also liked my name because it easy to pronounce, and the mood of the name fits me well. Nobody ever tackled wi

Where I belong, Who I met, Who I am

I belong somewhere with my beloved people- my family, friends, mentors, and pets- are staying. Since I am staying in a dormitory with my friends, being apart from my family, dormitory is nearly our ‘home.’ But still, I have my ‘home’ in Seoul, where my dog and parents are staying. Also, I have my ‘hometown’ where I was born, and that could be considered as my belonging home, too. I believe that there is no particular place where I belong. Still, I can confidently show vivid memory of where I belong: A warm and cozy home with my parents, dogs, or my friends, smells or delicious dinner or chicken that is just delivered, and excited and joyful voices won’t end in that place. A warm, sweet place with people who I love there is where I belong. Sympatico is a state of real understanding with another person, often spiritual and intellectual. It is tough to find or meet the moment that I entirely understand someone, though. I’ve experienced that ‘Sympatico’ once in my life. I’ll call him B. H

30 things about Elin

1.      My English name is Elin. I used this name since I was in kindergarten. I often used this name until middle school, so my friends in the English academy (I met them since I was in kindergarten) called me Elin, not Saeyoung in normal life. As I came to KMLA, I rarely use this name even in English classes, though I still like my name, so I want to use it when I attend the university in the US. 2.      I love mint chocolate flavor. Some friends hate this mint flavor because they say that it has the taste of 'toothpaste,' though, I love the taste of chocolate that comes right after the fresh mint flavor. It is not my favorite ice-cream flavor, but I always include this flavor whenever I buy the big size of ice cream in Baskin-robbins. 3.      The phone I use nowadays is my first smartphone, which is available on the Internet. Since I was in 1 st grade of elementary school until before I came to KMLA, I use the phone called 'Cobi' for about nine years. I

Never be the same

Well,  is there anyone who doesn’t like music? I guess not. Then,  w hat’s on your playlist? Scrolling up my music playlist, I selected 20 songs to make a loop streaming so that I can listen to those songs the whole night. Then I found one song, hesitated for one second, and deleted all the other songs which I chose before. It was the song of a young, small Cuba lady, but no matter who the singer was, that song is my favorite, actually, it is a song that has all my high-school memories in it. It was <Never be the same>.            I t is not smell, not a place, but it was ‘song’ that reminds me of the moment in my life. However, whenever I listen to this song, I find the girl playing bass guitar shivering in front of everyone in her freshman year. Maybe she was scared because it was her first performance stage, and she barely knew the juniors and seniors, though, it was not her point of shivering. She was so nervous because it was her first time to play bass in front of her f

Santa Claus is coming to town

You better watch out You better not cry You better not pout I’m telling you why Santa Claus is coming to town Santa Claus is coming to town Santa Claus is coming to town - < Santa Claus is coming to town>  ♪ I have trusted Santa ever since I was a child. When everyone else said Santa was a fake, I used to believe he existed. During the winter vacation, which is from fifth to sixth grade in elementary school, I finally realized Santa's secret, but I still feel infinite gratitude to the true Santa of my childhood. When I was very young, I didn't know Santa existed. I thought Santa existed when I was probably five or six years old when I received a very big dollhouse for Christmas. It was the dollhouse I usually wanted to have, and when I opened my eyes, there was the gift. My cousin said that there I no real Santa Claus, those presents are from my parents, but I didn't believe it. And every year Santa brought the gifts I wanted to h

Memory- I remember

I remember the day she first participated as a candidate for a class president in my 1 st  grade of elementary school. I remember the young girl shivering and so embarrassed to say a word in front of people even she went out for the election. I remember her whole school year participating in the school and class president election even I was so scared, and I remember every emotion that she felt after elected as a class president finally, in my whole school years. I remember, and I know that the girl will challenge again even with the anxiety of the election and the public.
